SNAP Digital Input and Output Modules

All SNAP digital modules have removable top-mounted connectors to provide easy access for field wiring, and all operate on 5 VDC control logic. Each digital module features integral channelspecific LEDs for convenient troubleshooting and maintenance. Each module is factory tested twice and is UL and CE approved. In addition, part numbers ending in FM are Factory Mutual approved.

SNAP input modules are used to sense the on or off status for AC or DC voltages from such sources as proximity switches, push buttons, or auxiliary contacts.

The SNAP-IDC5G is ideal for detecting 48 VDC in telecom applications. The SNAPIDC5-HT is designed for sensors that have a high leakage current.

SNAP output modules are used to switch up to four separate AC or DC loads. Output modules that are fused use a standard fuse with a convenient handle for easy replacement. DC outputs are available in either a source or sink configuration. AC outputs are zero voltage turn on and zero current turn off for transient-free switching.

SNAP Analog Input and Output Modules

SNAP analog input modules have an on-board microprocessor to provide module-level intelligence, which makes them an ideal choice for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

SNAP analog output modules have an on-board microprocessor to provide module-level intelligence. These software-configurable output modules handle a wide variety of signal levels.

Most provide dual-channel packaging. All SNAP analog modules are factory calibrated. Part numbers ending in -FM are Factory Mutual approved.

SNAP High-Density Digital I/O Modules

SNAP high-density digital modules are ideal for OEMs and for anyone who has high point-count applications.

The high-density point configuration reduces per-point costs of digital I/O systems by providing up to eight times as many I/O points in the same space.

SNAP Isolated Analog Input Modules

SNAP I/O isolated analog input modules provide two channels isolated from each other, thereby eliminating problems caused by ground loop currents. SNAP isolated analog input modules are compatible with all SNAP PAC brains and rack-mounted controllers, including Wired+Wireless™ models.

Since many SNAP analog input modules are software-configurable and handle a wide variety of signal levels, a small number of modules can support a full range of analog input requirements.
Modules provide high resolution for precise signal levels, as well as dual-channel packaging. All SNAP analog modules are factory calibrated.

SNAP Serial Communication Modules

The SNAP-SCM-232 and SNAP-SCM-485-422 serial communication modules are part of the SNAP PAC System. They conveniently provide two channels of serial data at a remote Ethernet location.

Many applications require digital, analog, and serial data to provide a complete solution. Traditionally, either separate serial network cabling is required for the serial devices, or an expensive data processor or PC must be used just to interface with the serial devices.
SNAP serial communication modules eliminate this problem by providing two channels of high-speed, isolated serial communications packaged in the compact SNAP module form.

Case Study: Fulghum Industries

Opto 22 SNAP PAC System Integrates with Allen-Bradley® RSLogix™ Platform for Wood Handling Processes.

Improving operations at a woodyard where critical control processes are handled by hardware from multiple vendors proved challenging for Fulghum and its integrator partner, Advanced Control Solutions.

The two companies had worked together on multiple large projects and were very happy with the performance of the SNAP PAC System, which they valued for its distributed control architecture, easy programmability, and reliability.

The stacker-reclaimer, meanwhile, remained inextricably dependent on its embedded A-B control system. As time passed, however, the scope of operations at the woodyard began to expand...
